Splendour of the Seas

Sisterships: Splendour of the Seas is one of 6 more or less identical ships of the Vision-class. Fully sistership is theLegend of the Seas

The first 2 are: Legend- and Splendour- of the Seas. Characteristic Funnel with Viking Crown Lounge on midship located.
The second two: Enchantment- and Grandeur- of the Seas. Length plus 15 m. Funnel on aftship and Viking Crown Lounge freestanding on midship.
The third two: Rhapsody- and Vision of the Seas. Identical lay-out as the second two.
However the Enchantment of the Seas is stretched by 22,2 m. in 2005.


Oct.26-2011 Splendour of the Seas enters into the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain to begin a five-week long, $35 million dry dock where she will receive new dining venues: Chops Grille, Izumi, the Boardwalk Dog House, Chef’s Table and the Park Café; the Royal Babies and Tots Nursery, a Diamond lounge for Crown and Anchor loyalty guests, a Concierge Lounge for suite guests and upgraded technology throughout. In addition the ship will receive 124 new balconies and a host of new stateroom amenities including flat panel televisions. Other features being added to Splendour include ship-wide WIFI, a digital way finding system, electronic mustering and an outdoor movie screen.
While in dry dock, the ship will receive a new “duck tail,” an extension to the bridge wings as well as undergo regularly scheduled maintenance work on the propellers, rudders and tail shafts. During the process, the ship's atrium will undergo a visual transformation, and its centerpiece will replace the current Champagne Bar. The new bar will be called the R Bar.The new bar will have a sophisticated 1960's vibe.
Splendour returns to service with its new features in place on November 26, 2011.

Splendour of the Seas

Ship Description

Put into service in 1996, Royal Caribbean Cruises' Splendour of the Seas is a light and friendly ship with large window areas. It offers a broad range of entertainment, great food and an international flair.
Atmosphere on Board

Like all of Royal Caribbean's ships, Splendour of the Seas is open for all age groups and for people from all countries. Therefore there is a great mixture of international guests. Overall, the atmosphere is relaxed. On special evenings, formal dress is expected in the main restaurant.

A bottle of wine in the restaurant or at the bar costs from about 25 US-$. All prices are subject to a service fee.
Cabins

All cabins are furnished very attractively, comfortable and quite spacious. Many cabins have got their private balcony.
Dining

There are several ways to enjoy the fine cuisine on board. The main restaurant "King & I" is situated on two decks and offers a great view through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The Windjammer Café offers delicious buffets and a wonderful ocean view as well.
Entertainment

Whether you prefer a quiet atmosphere or a party in the disco: from piano music to Broadway style shows to disco there is a huge range of different entertainment offers. On board there are art auctions, the ever-popular bingo games and lectures about the ports of call.
Sports and Leisure

The ship offers a large fitness area with stunning ocean views, a swimming pool with a relaxation area ("Solarium"), many sports classes (partly for a fee) such as aerobics or Pilates, a sauna and a steam room (separated by gender). A wide range of wellness and beauty treatments are offered in the spa as well.

Besides, there are two pools and whirlpools on deck which invite you to swim and bathe.
Our Recommendation

MS Splendour of the Seas is a very nice cruise ship with great offers on board. Be it the skating rink, miniature golf or a climbing the wall high above the sea: Almost anything is possible on board. The food is good and plentiful. The audience is international and the main language on board is English. Overall, you can expect a professionally organized cruise experience of good quality.
